A new direction

I'm not really sure what I'm doing with my project. The self dictated nature of the project is stressing me out a little bit, and I have started avoiding doing anything for my project. In order to get a push in the right direction, I had a meeting with my two teachers to talk about my project, and they really helped me to find an angle I could work with. They suggested that I work with elementary students at my school and give them an introduction to music that they maybe do not have access to right now.
Most of the kids in the elementary school will probably go to the middle school as well, where they have the option of band as an elective for the first time. However, you have to choose if you want to take band in fifth grade because you cannot begin taking the class in a later year. Since some kids do not know much if anything about instruments, being forced to make a choice may feel like too much and kids won't want to join band. However, if the kids had more of a solid basis on which to make their choice, they might be more open to joining the band program.
I'm going to email the elementary principle and music teacher to see if they would be open to a program like this, and talk to the high school and middle school band director as well to see what he thinks. If I get a go ahead, I will talk to some of the kids in band that I know, and see if they would be willing to help out as well.
I am still not entirely confident with my project, but now I have more of a solid starting point that will lead me to a concrete outcome.
